Bank Teller Job Description
Bank teller jobs include the following functions as part of the work profile:
- Receive cash and check from customers for purposes of deposits. The teller verifies the payment amount from the deposit form signed by the customer and also looks for accurate check endorsements.
- Examines cash based on anti-counterfeit measures to prevent money fraud.
- Renders cash to the customers against check deposits after verifying identification of the customer and account balance in relation to the bank policy.
- Feeds every transaction into the banking software and issues printed receipts to customers.
- Counts cash available in the teller deposit box at the beginning of each working shift. Also, verifies the amount at the end of the shift in relation to the transactions held in that shift period.
- Prepares certified checks, savings bonds, travelers’ checks and cashier’s checks on demand.
- Explains banking services and charges associated with them, if required.
- Substitutes customer service executives during short breaks or lunches. The bank teller helps customers open accounts, access deposit boxes or lockers and understand ATM operations.

- Minimum qualification up to high school / diploma / or equivalent
- Good typing speed for both alphabetic and numeric data.
- Excellent mathematical aptitude with the ability to numerate quickly
