Guyana is a lower middle-income economies coming under the Latin American and Caribbean region as to the classification made by the World Bank on the basis of income and region for the year 2006.

Important sectors of the country's economy such as Agriculture, industry and services equally contributes to the Gross Domestic Product of the country.

Major agricultural products of the country are sugarcane, coconuts and rice. Important industries are mining and textiles. The country possesses huge deposits of gold and diamonds.
