Investment Banking Jobs

Investment banking jobs provide investment solutions to the bank and its clients. They monitor investment tools, prepare reports and make sound investment decisions to maximize profitability.

Investment Banking Jobs: Types

Investment banking jobs available with financial institutions are:

  • Investment analyst: S/he provides vital information pertaining to the market situation to the funds manager, sales team and bank's senior officials. Investment analysts study companies' quarterly results to estimate the value of their shares. They also search for alternative growth-oriented investment options. With the expansion of investment tools beyond share market, such as commodity exchange, the futures market, energy market and retail market, the job of the investment analyst has become crucial.
  • Investment banker: Investment bankers are responsible for two aspects of investment, each of which is assigned to a different individual. The first one is the investment banker (corporate finance). His or her job is to advise clients, such as corporate offices, government agencies, institutions and enterprises, on the financial front. The work is similar to that of relationship managers in investment agencies. S/he analyses the financial goals of the client, available assets and the cash flow process to help them make sound investment decisions. An investment banker (corporate finance) also helps the clients arrange finances for mergers and acquisitions. However, an investment banker (operations) handles back office work to assist the relationship manager in delegating his/her duties. S/he supervises the team of bank executives to provide services as asked by the clients. S/he coordinates with other bank departments to settle financial transactions on behalf of the client.

  •
  • Fund managers: A fund manager supervises investments for the banking unit. A bank's consumers invest money in pension funds, retirement plans, unit trusts and insurances for longer term. The bank reinvests all the collective money in profitable ventures to generate income and returns the promised amount to its consumers on a due date. The banking business works in this way. Fund managers work on the data provided by the investment analyst. They make crucial investment decisions based on the prevailing market situation.
