Amazon and Apple are planning to resume advertising on Twitter. The two companies had halted their plans to advertise on Twitter after Elon Musk’s Twitter takeover, but the social media company has since offered incentives to bring back advertisers.

Apple and Amazon resume advertising on Twitter

These developments come after an email was sent by Twitter to advertising agencies providing them with incentives and boosting their spending on the social media platform. Twitter has been making these efforts to increase advertisers’ spending on the platform and to increase revenues since Musk took over the company.

Musk’s takeover saw some companies pull back advertising on Twitter amid concerns about content moderation. However, Twitter is trying to bring these advertisers back, and it has billed its latest advertising offer as the “biggest advertiser incentive ever on Twitter.”

An email by the company said that advertisers based in the US that select $500,000 in incremental spending would qualify to have their spending receive a “100% value add”, with a cap of up to $1 million.

A report by Platformer News said that e-commerce giant, Amazon, is planning to resume advertising on Twitter. The company plans to spend around $100 million annually on Twitter advertisements. However, it is conducting some security changes to its ads platform before resuming on Twitter.

Musk also held a discussion on Twitter Spaces, saying that Apple was the largest advertiser on the social media platform. He also added that the tech company had fully resumed advertising on Twitter.

Musk closed the Twitter takeover deal in late October after paying $44 billion to buy the company. During the first month, Musk reduced the number of employees in the company. Among the employees that were laid off were those working on content moderation. The move created uncertainty in the advertising industry.

Some of the largest companies that halted advertising on Twitter after Musk’s takeover include General Mills Inc and car manufacturer Audi. In November, Musk also admitted that the company’s revenues had declined significantly because of halting these advertisements.

Elon Musk meets with France President Emmanuel Macron

The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, said he had a discussion with Musk about the content moderation policies on the social media platform. His meeting with Musk came a day after Macron raised his concerns about content policies on Twitter.

In a tweet, Macron said that “transparent user policies, significant reinforcement of content moderation and protection of freedom of speech: efforts have to be made by Twitter to comply with European regulations.”

Since Musk took over Twitter, researchers have noted that there has been a rise in hate speech on the platform. Musk, who is advocating for free speech, announced that there would be an amnesty for the accounts suspended during the previous leadership if these accounts had not broken any laws.

Some of the accounts that Twitter reinstated were for former US President Donald Trump and Kanye West “Ye.” However, the latter was suspended again by Musk.
