Introduction to Online Credit Card Processing

Online Credit Card Processing involves authorization of a credit card when some transaction has occurred through it via Internet. First of all a business owner asks the third party to confirm the credit card. In response the card processing company verifies and notifies the merchant about the credit card's position. In turn it is up to the merchant to confirm or decline the purchase of the customer. This whole process is done via Internet.

Different Ways of Online Credit Card Processing

Online Credit Card Processing can take place through the Credit Card Terminal. In this the card is swiped by the merchant in the terminal. The informations in it pass through Internet to the processing unit where it gets verified and consequently the card is either accepted or denied. If the charging is done instantaneously then it is known as Real Time Credit Card Processing. But the actual charging is not done instantaneously but at the end of the day when the total sales per terminal is discharged.

E-commerce ASP Service is another way of online credit card processing. This is same as physical Point-of-sale (POS) terminal but the only difference is the medium through which the information is being transmitted. The informations are passed online to the third party processors for verification of the card, through which purchase have been made. In these terminals sensitive informations are encrypted (for example, credit card number) which ensures secured and secret passage of information between customer and merchant. Payment gateway helps in secured, secret and quick transferring of informations between payment portal (website) and acquiring bank or company.

Online Credit Card Processing gives mileage to the merchants in remaining competitive over others. It can be simply done through maintenance of a website offering online support to the customers. This online credit card processing system is becoming more and more secured through the inventions of systems fighting fraudulent transactions, automated transactions and secured servers.
