There are four major student credit card providers in the USA – Chase, Capital One, Discover and Citi Credit Cards.
Capital One provides two major credit cards for the students in the USA – Capital One Platinum for Students and Capital One No Hassle Cash Rewards for Students. The Capital One Platinum for Students provides the holders with 0% APR on the purchases made by them till December 2008. After the introductory APR period gets over the APR would be variable and the rate presently is 19.8%. This card does not have any balance transfer fee or annual fee. The Capital One Platinum for Students assists students to control their expenditures and provides additional benefits like zero dollar liability in case the cards are stolen or lost as well as online account services. The holders need to have an average to limited credit history in order to avail these cards.
The Capital One No Hassle Cash Rewards for Students offers the holders 25% annual bonus. This bonus is provided on the cash that is earned by the holder within a period of one year. The cardholders can also receive 1% cash back on the purchases they make with the card. This offer is provided from the first day itself. The cash backs are unlimited and the rewards are provided to the holders as long as account lasts. There is also an introductory APR of 0% which is applicable only till December 2008 and after the period the APR is supposed to be variable. The present APR is 16.9%. The holders need to have an average to limited credit history in order to avail these cards.
The Citi Dividend Platinum Select Card for College Students offers the holders benefits like 0% APR on purchases, transfers of balance and cash advances. These facilities are provided for a period of six months and are applicable as long as the holder is not a defaulter. The cardholders can also earn 5% as cash back on the purchases. This facility would be available at supermarkets, convenience stores and gas stations. They can also earn 1% cash back for each and every other purchase made by them. There are no minimum income levels or any requirements for a cosigner. With the help of this card the holders can build a good credit record. This card does not have any balance transfer fee. In order to avail this card the holders need to have a good credit record.
Citi Credit Cards also provides some other credit cards like Citi Platinum Select Card for College Students.
Citi Bronze AAdvantage MasterCard for College Students, Citi mtvU Platinum Select Visa Card for College Students and Citi Driver’s Edge Card for College Students. All these cards require the holders to have good credit records in order to avail them.
Chase +1 Student MasterCard card offers the holders a number of benefits like an introductory APR of 0% for a period of six months. The regular APR of these cards is 15.24% and there are no annual fees. There are balance transfer facilities and the holder needs to have a good credit record in order to avail these cards. The Discover Student Card offers similar facilities in terms of the introductory APR and the offer period. This card has a regular APR of 16.99% and no annual fees. The holders need to have good credit scores to avail this card.
