Romarco Minerals has been granted with a credit of tax of South Carolina by authorities of tax in South Carolina. This credit of tax at South Carolina is supposed to be provided for a gold project that would be undertaken by this company in Haile area. These South Carolina tax credits would help this company to make savings worth in region of $3 million on a yearly basis.
These South Carolina tax benefits provided by state tax authorities are part of incentives that are being provided across industries in an order to help boost economy of this state. As per this tax credit Romarco Minerals would now need to pay South Carolina tax at a rate of 6 percent in place of 10 percent as had previously been case.
Various equipments that are used to be for this particular project would be free from being taxed under South Carolina tax laws. As per latest news on South Carolina tax rates of cigarette taxes have been increased by 50 cents. Money that is generated from this increased tax would now be utilized for funding a fresh health insurance program.
However, this particular South Carolina tax has become a matter of great debate in House of Representatives in South Carolina state legislature. John Rouff who functions as research director of South Carolina Fair Share, has said that this increase of South Carolina tax on cigarettes is a crucial step that has been taken in order to reduce number of people in that state who are yet to be covered by any form or type of insurance policy. He reiterated that this step had been due for a significant period of time now. Kaiser Family Foundation has said that as many as 700,000 people living in that state were not availing any health insurance plan in 2007 financial year.
Present plans that have proposed to raise South Carolina tax rates of cigarette have said that rates should be fixed at 2.5 cents for every pack.
