As per reports a new North Dakota tax has been imposed on energy resources and their use. Official name of this ND tax is cap and trade tax. This energy tax of North Dakota would be used for purpose of collection of revenue from local consumers of energy products. On 30th of March 2009 Cory Fong who functions as Tax Commissioner in North Dakota has said that North Dakota Tax Department has come up with a number of breaks of tax in North Dakota. These extensions of tax at North Dakota would be applicable in case of filing and payment of taxes that fall due on 31st of March 2009.
Beneficiaries of these North Dakota tax benefits would receive until 21st April to pay any taxes that are owed by them. Same would be applicable as far as filing of North Dakota tax returns is concerned. Tax payers would be able to perform these activities without having to incur any form of financial penalties whatsoever.
These North Dakota tax benefits would be provided to those tax payers who live in areas that have been affected by natural disasters such as floods. These benefits would also be extended to those people who are outside these areas but nonetheless have their documents placed in areas that have been affected thus far.
North Dakota tax payers who have filed as single earners and are sure that they would not be able to meet April 21st deadline would now need to file tax Form 4868 that is provided Internal Revenue Services. Once this form is filed by North Dakota tax payers would now be able to file their tax returns as well as pay their tax dues by as late as 15th of October 2009.
