Oil: 60 million bbl of proven reserves (as on January 1, 2009). This, in comparison to other countries across the globe, puts New Zealand in the 76th place.

Natural gas: 33.98 billion cu m (as on January 1, 2009). New Zealand ranks 69 in the world in terms of the volume of proved natural gas deposits.[br]

Exports from the food and beverage industry have roughly trebled over the last 17 years. The export figure, which stood at NZ$6.96 billion in 1990, surged to NZ$21.43 billion in 2008.

Specialized manufacturing: According to Statistics New Zealand, the country has roughly 22,700 manufacturing businesses, which in total generate about NZ$20 billion in quarterly sales.

Tourism: With this industry generating an estimated NZ$6.3 billion in foreign exchange per annum, it has become New Zealand’s biggest export earner. The country’s adventure activities, unique culture and stunning and diverse natural landscapes attract approximately 2.3 million people every year. The tourism industry plays a vital role in the New Zealand’s economy and offers more than 108,000 full-time equivalent jobs directly and an estimated 74,500 jobs indirectly.
