This legislation regarding tax of Montana has increased rates of taxes imposed on people who are atop financial ladder. Baucus is hopeful that this proposal regarding tax in Montana would be implemented by 2009 fiscal itself.

It has been learnt that is present administration takes no steps regarding rates of tax at Montana then Montana tax rates that had been instituted during Bush’s presidential regime as well as tax reductions brought about by him would cease to exist after 2010 fiscal comes to an end. This would imply that tax rates that had been levied when Clinton was president would be back yet again.

At present highest rates of Montana tax are 35 percent and 33 percent. Baucus would be increasing these rates to 39.6 percent and 36 percent respectively and these additions would be made without any extensions whatsoever.

Members of Republican Party have been opposing such Montana tax proposals as they opine that if financially rich are taxed with such rates it would be detrimental for state economy on whole. They have said that this tax increase would hurt small business companies as well. In all over USA small business companies normally file their tax returns as individuals and this sudden jolt would mean that they would employ lesser people which would hurt job market as well.

Baucus has made it clear that present rates of taxes on income from dividends and capital gains would remain same as they are as far as majority of Montana tax payers are concerned. However, tax payers with higher incomes would have to pay more taxes from now on. He would also be taking some actions regarding alternative minimum taxes so that middle class is not affected in any ways as a result of increase in rate of taxes at highest level. Similar tax moves are also being taken at federal level by administration headed by Barack Obama.
