Recent condition of Kazakhstan trade

In first quarter of 2009 fiscal performance of Kazakhstan export, import and trade has not been as good as it might have been hoped. There has been a decrease of 37.3 percent as far as prices of Kazakhstan export are concerned.

However, on flipside prices of Kazakhstan import have gone up at a rate of 1.6 percent in an encouraging news for Kazakhstan export, import and trade. This is applicable when seen in perspective of first quarter of 2008 fiscal. This data has been brought out by agency reports of Kazakhstan Today in accordance with Statistics Agency of Kazakhstan.

Statistics Agency of Kazakhstan has also revealed when judged in comparison to first month of 2009 fiscal there has been a decrease of 27.9 percent as far as prices of Kazakhstan export are concerned. When seen against March 2008 there has been a decline of 41.4 percent.

From perspective of February 2009 rate of increase in Kazakhstan export prices has been 2.3 percent. Statistics for prices of Kazakhstan import are a bit different as has been proved by reports on Kazakhstan export, import and trade. With regards to December 2008 there has been a decline of 9.2 percent and as judged against prices of Kazakhstan import for March 2008 there has been a decrease of 0.7 percent. However, when seen against data of February 2009 there has been an increase of 0.1 percent.

Kazakhstan export prices for wood have gone down most – 28 percent – followed by footwear and paper- 17.4 percent and 17.2 percent respectively. Prices of Kazakhstan export of coffee have decreased at 8 percent. As far as vegetable oil is concerned rate of decline has been 16.5 percent. Prices of Kazakhstan export for sugar have decreased least – 1.3 percent. In case of tea it has been 3.2 percent.

South Korea and Kazakhstan export and import

South Korea has always been a major trading partner of Kazakhstan. In 2008 fiscal aggregate financial worth of bilateral trade between these two countries was $754.1 million. This included exports worth $330.8 million and imports worth $423.3 million. There has been a decrease of 10.5 percent from bilateral trade between these two countries in 2007. Main exports of Kazakhstan to South Korea are various raw materials.
