Regular buyers of Ikea furniture can opt for the Ikea credit card, which is issued in collaboration with GE Money. Started in 1943, in Sweden, IKEA is the largest manufacturer of affordable furniture in the world. The company is a pioneer in the flat-pack design of furniture and also offers garden furniture, lighting products, bathroom accessories, children’s items, kitchen utensils and carpets. In 2004 and 2005, Working Mothers magazine named Ikea among the 100 Best Companies for Working Mothers. Also, the company was ranked 96 in Fortune’s 100 Best Companies to Work For in 2006.

Ikea Credit Card: How to Apply

To become eligible for rewards on purchases at Ikea stores, one needs to apply for the Ikea credit card at the company’s website. Before applying for the Ikea credit card, applicants must go through the GEMB Privacy Policy. Applicants are required to fill in all the required details and avoid including any misinformation.

Ikea Credit Card: Benefits and Rewards

The Ikea credit card can be used to make purchases online as well as at all retail stores of the company. The various benefits offered by the card include:

  • Cardholders receive several special payment options throughout the year.
  • The APR is lower for in-store purchases worth more than $1,000.
  • The Annual IKEA Catalog and invitations to special events are home delivered to cardholders.
  • Members can manage their account and make payments online.
  • Monthly payments are fairly low.
  • There is no annual fee associated with the Ikea credit card.
  • If the cardholder pays for purchases worth $300 and above within 90 days, no interest is applicable.

Ikea Credit Card: Restrictions

The following restrictions are applicable on the use of the Ikea credit card:

  • A good credit rating is a prerequisite for eligibility for the card
  • In case a member does not pay the promotional purchase amount or for any credit insurance/debt (optional) cancellation charges within 90 days, s/he will have to pay finance charges.
  • During the promotional period, Ikea credit card users are required to pay minimum monthly payments.
  • People below the age of 18 year cannot apply.
