AXA: Established in 1816, the company has its headquarters in Paris, France. The company was named AXA in the year 1982. With strategic partnership with domestic insurance companies, AXA has diversified its business to almost across the entire globe.
Assicurazioni Generali: This is an Italy-based health insurance provider. As per the 2007 revenue figures in the health insurance sector, Assicurazioni Generali holds second place among its peers across the world. Established in 1831, the company operates in Europe and Central Asia. Without extremely aggressive expansion plans, the company has been able to resume its stronghold in the European insurance sector.
Aviva: Founded in 1998, the company got its present name in 2000. Through strategic partnerships worldwide, Aviva has been able to optimize performance in the global insurance sector. The largest health insurance provider in the UK, Aviva has operations in 25 countries, spanning Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle-East. Apart from general, life and health insurance, Aviva also deals in savings and fund management services. According to the mid-2008 reports, the company owns £49.2 billion through investment sales and has £359 billion in funds under management.
Prudential: This UK-based insurance company was established in 1848. With major expansion plans, Prudential is among the leading health insurance providers in the UK, US and Asia. The group has four main business units – Prudential Corporation Asia, Jackson National Life Insurance Company, Prudential UK & Europe and M&G. Each unit controls operations in specific regions. The company has 21 million customers and 28,000 people working worldwide.
Aegon: This company recognizes itself as the market leader in the insurance and pension sectors. Based in the Netherlands, Aegon employs 35,500 people worldwide. As per the 2007 figures, the company has operating income worth €2.692 billion and total assets of €27.13 billion. Aegon has operations in several countries, including Canada, Hungry, Romania, Spain, China and Taiwan.
