According to the United States Census Bureau, the estimated population of the state as of 2005 is 8,717,925 in comparison to the 8,698,879 in July 2004. The net change in the population of the state in 2002-03 was 0.7%. According to the US Census 2000, the total population was 8,414,350.
The density of the population in the state was 1,164.6 per sq mi.
With regards to the Racial Distribution 2000, white 72.6%; Black 13.6%; Asian 5.7%; Native American 0.2%.
Business and Economy of New Jersey
According to the Bureau of economic Analysis, the total state product of the state as of 2004 was $416 billion with a per capita personal income of $41,636 in the same year.
The state is not only a center for the Industries, transportation and tourism but also a leader in the agricultural income.
Chief Industries of the state are pharmaceuticals/drugs, telecommunications, biotechnology, printing and publishing.
Important Manufacturing goods of the state are chemicals, electronic equipment and food.
Major crops are nursery/green house, tomatoes, blueberries, peaches, peppers, cranberries and soybeans.
Live stock of the state (Jan 2004): 46,000 cattle/calves; (Jan 2003): 12,000 hogs/pigs; (Dec 2003): 2.1 million chickens.
