Delaware is one of the Middle Atlantic States of the United States. It is bordered by Maryland, and there is a short border with Pennsylvania, New Jersey is across the Delaware Bay and Delaware R.

Both Finance and insurance sectors have made a major contribution to the economy of Delaware by generating more income and employment since 1990s.

The manufacturing, credit card, banking, and insurance industries are the state’s key areas, which are more concentrated in the north of Delaware.

The state owns a total geographical area of 2,489 sq mi; with a land area of 1,954 sq mi; and total acres forested 0.4 mil. The total estimated population of the state in the year 2005 was 843,524 with a growth rate of 1.6% from the previous year.

The population density of the state was 418.5 per sq.mi. The racial distribution of the state are as follows; 72.5% white, 19.2% black, 4.8 hispanic, 2.1% asian, 0.3% native americans, 1.7% mixed race.

Business and Economy of Delaware
The gross state product of Delaware in 2003 was $49 billion. The per capita personal income was $34,199, ranking 9th in the nation. The per capita personal income of the state was $ 32,810 in the year 2003.

The chief industries of the state are Chemicals, agriculture, finance, polutry, shell fish, tourism, auto assembly, food processing, transportation equipment.

The Chief manufacturing products of the state are nylon, apparel, luggage, foods, autos, processed meats and vegetables, rail road and aircraft equipments.

The Chief crops of the state are soybeans, potatoes, corn, mushroom, lima beans, green peas, barley, wheat, corn, grain sorghum, green house and nursery.

The major livestocks of the state are (Jan.2004): 25,000 cattle/calves;(Jan 2003): 18000hogs/pigs; 251.2 mil. Broilers.
