Credit cards have changed the way money exchange hands. Rather than the ‘lent cash’ that accrued interest from the moment it was handed over, credit cards have given the flexibility of possessing credit and yet not paying any interest until one uses it.[br]

Credit and Card: Picking the Best

Products that best cater to the customer demands and needs always score more. Heeding to this ideology, credit card issuers offer many variants of credit cards that serve different purposes. However, identifying the best is a task, given the stupendous numbers and the ‘slick’ features. Therefore, a careful study of one’s spending habits, and identifying credit cards that reward those shopping habits are required. Below are a few parameters to compare a card against and to identify the best:

·        The APR and the initial interest-free period: Several credit card issuers offer interest-free periods for as long as 12 months. This means you don’t have to pay any interest on revolving credit for this period.

·        Grace period: Grace period is the duration that a payment can be made within, without attracting any interest. The longer the grace period, the more time one has to pay the bill.[br]

·        Reward program: Credit cards offer attractive cash back and discounts on purchases. Try to identify the card that offers cash back or discounts on products that you buy the most.

·        Co-brands discounts and schemes: It’s good to have a card that offers you extra discounts on the products of its affiliated companies. Citibank, American Express and others credit card companies offer such cards.

·        Online management: With the maximum usage of the credit card on the net, online management lets you keep a watch on your expenditure. With online accounts, one can check the balance, order add-on cards and interact with customer service.

Customers must also consider the issuing company’s customer service and security features, both must-haves for convenient credit card usage.
