Chad, officially known as the Republic of Chad, is a landlocked country in central Africa. Chad’s economic advancement has suffered excessively due to its geographic remoteness, drought, inefficient infrastructure, and political chaos. As per the 2004 estimates the GDP was estimated to be $15.66 billion and the country ranked 121st in the world in terms of GDP. More than 80% of the country’s labor force is engaged in agriculture, including the herding of livestock.

Chad has been a member of the BEAC since its independence. The BEAC, with the backing of the French Treasury, serves as the central bank of its member states.
