The Centrale Bank van Suriname (CBvS) is the central bank of the Republic of Suriname, a country in northern South America. The bank has an important role in ensuring financial and monetary stability in the country.
The bank has a unique position in the Surinamese economy. As the central bank of the country, the Centrale Bank van Suriname has been assigned several tasks as mentioned hereunder:

The bank has a unique position in the Surinamese economy. As the central bank of the country, the Centrale Bank van Suriname has been assigned several tasks as mentioned hereunder:
- To promote the value and permanence of the Surinamese currency
- To circulate currency in Suriname, consisting of banknotes, and also to facilitate money transfers
- To promote the development of healthy banks and credit institutions in Suriname
- To supervise the activities of banks and credit unions
- To encourage and facilitate international currency transfers
- To ensure the socio-economic development of Suriname
- Ensuring economic and price stability in the country with the objective of encouraging and promoting all round development of the Surinamese economy
- Ensuring the soundness and reliability of the Surinamese economy, banking and financial system, and ensuring that it meets the requirements of the community and keeps a tab on the international happenings
- Supporting the Surinamese government, as well as other elements of the Surinamese economic community
- To conduct the monetary policy
- To develop strategies to promote Sri Lanka as an international financial center
The administration of the Centrale Bank van Suriname is in the hands of a Governor. To ensure the smooth functioning of the bank, the CBvS has been divided into three directorates:
- The Directorate of Banking Operations
- The Directorate of Monetary and Economic Affairs
- The Directorate of Supervision
