The Amsouth Bank doubled its size in the year 2000 when it merged with the Nashville, Tennessee-based First American National Bank. However in 2006 Amsouth merged with the Regions Bank (Regions Financial Corporation). Amsouth in effect no longer exists anymore as it falls under the name of Regions now.

The complete acquisition of the Amsouth Bank was completed in November 2006. All Amsouth branches in the states of Alabama and Florida closed up or converted over to the Regions Bank by the middle of July of 2007. All other branches in other states either closed or converted by the end of October of 2007. The Amsouth name was retired officially on December 6, 2007.[br]

If you have a problem and need to call the Amsouth Bank Customer Service then you are actually speaking with the Regions Bank Customer Service Department. The friendly staff you were used to dealing with at Amsouth is every bit as friendly as the Regions Bank staff.
