The major accomplishemnts of the American Council For Energy Efficient Economy (ACEEE) are –

• The ACEEE has had major contributions to energy legislations hic include – National Appliance Energy Conservation Act – 1987, Energy Policy Act -1992, comprehensive energy legislation – passed in 2003.
• Minimum efficiency standards for lightning products, residential appliances, motors and other euipments have been formulated by the ACEEE. These standards have resulted in savings of more than 50 billion US Dollars for the consumers.
• ACEEE has made ignificant conributions to U.S. Climate Change Action Plan and Climate Change Technology Initiative by President Clinton and National Energy Policy by President Bush.
• The ACEEE helped to obtain extra funds for federal energy efficiency research.
• The dsign of innovative technologies or high-efficiency refrigerators, resource-efficient clothes washers, energy-efficient motors, transformers, furnaces, and traffic lights have ben spearheaded by ACEEE.
• ACEEE has provided analyses of economic and technical feasibility of improving efficiency of vehicles.
• The American Council For Energy Efficient Economy played an important role in development of new energy efficiency programs which includes – National Grid USA, Commonwealth Edison, Pacific Gas and Electric, NSTAR Electric, Northern States Power, Potomac Electric Power Company and CINergy.[br]
• Different state and regional organizations have received help from ACEEE in the development of energy efficiency programs and policies.
• The increasing crisis in the market of natural gas was identified by ACEEE.
• The Energy Title of the 2002 Farm Bill was drafted in Assistance of the American Council For Energy Efficient Economy.
• The designing and implementation of pograms like DOE/EPA’s Energy Star, Motor Challenge, and Combined Heat and Power Challenge was aided by ACEEE.
• ACEEE played a significant role in the establishment of prgrams like – Super Efficient Refrigerator Program, Appliance Standards Awareness Project, Compressed Air Challenge, Consortium for Energy Efficiency, Building Codes Assistance Project, New Buildings Institute, Southwest Energy Efficiency Project and Midwest Energy Efficiency Alliance.
• The Council developed its Green Book which contained comphensive guidelines related to environment for cars and light trucks.
• 18 Summer Studies related to energy efficiency in buildings and industry has ben organized by the ACEEE.
• The National Conference on Energy Efficiency as a Resource was initiated by the American Council For Energy Efficient Economy.
• An electricity conservation program in Brazil named PROCEL was stablished by ACEEE.
