The Mortgage Association of Alabama established its roots on November 23, 1970 under the supervision of Molton Williams and Henry Drake. In September of 1994, Alabama Mortgage Loan Administrative Group merged with the Mortgage Banker Association of Alabama. This was an important event and due to this twenty new member firms became the members of Alabama Mortgage Bankers Association.

Today the Mortgage Bankers Association of Alabama has 85 member companies from throughout the state and the south east.
One of the major purposes of the Mortgage Bankers Association of Alabama is that it always tries to maintain its original goal through promoting education. The association organizes an annual convention each spring which may be considered as one of the finest mortgage banking educational events in the country. Various educational seminars and social events are held by the organization.
The Mortgage Bankers Association of Alabama has opened up its own educational department, CampusMBA which offers a comprehensive residential and commercial real estate finance curriculum. It provides web-based, print-based, audio-based and video-based courses. The course also contains the live classroom based programs and seminars.
Every year the Mortgage Bankers Association of Alabama Board of Directors and Officers honors a regular member of the association with. “Faye Dozier Award“. Faye Dozier was the assistant for the association for twenty years from 1978 to 1998.
The association also honors either a regular or an associated member with the “Presidents Award“.
