Historical Evolutions of Thailand Stock ExchangeThe current Thailand Stock Exchange can be distinguished into two phases. The first one was The Bangkok Stock exchange which has ceased to exist due to various reasons and the Securities Exchange of Thailand has been built in its place.

The Bangkok Stock Exchange, in spite of having a good infrastructure failed to deliver whatever was expected of it in the 1960s. This resulted in its termination in the 1970s.

Market Timings of the Thailand Stock ExchangeThe Thailand Stock Exchange works normally for 5 days a week on every bank and business days. There are two trading sessions each day. The morning session is from 10:00am-12:30pm and the afternoon session is from 14:30pmm-16:30pm.

The legislators of Thailand then decided to build another stock Exchange and did so in the year 1975 which was named The Securities Exchange of Thailand. the name was later officially changed toThe Stock Exchange of Thailand or SET.

Trading Methodology of the Thailand Stock ExchangeThe Thailand Stock Exchange is a thoroughly computerized stock exchange and the computerization took place in the year 1991. The Thailand Stock Exchange has two types of trading system.

They are:

  • Put Through Trading or PT
  • Automatic Order Matching Trading or AOMPut Through Trading: This trading system works in a direct way. The seller advertises the price of the share he wants to sell. The clients or the brokers then negotiate the price directly with the seller and the negotiated price can be lesser than the the price that was advertised. The seller then can let the ASSET know the details of the transactions for records.

Automatic Order Matching Trading: This process is an automatic process which mainly depends on the basis of price, then the time of bidding. The best bids are given preference and are grouped together. Then the bidder who had made the bid first gets his shares. This is a computerized method that works mechanically.
