The Danmarks Nationalbank is the Central Bank of Denmark. The bank was established in the year 1818 to restore the monetary system of the country. In the year 1936 the bank got a status of an independent institution. Since then the bank’s monetary policy is independently set without any Government control.
Important objectives of the bank are as follows:
- Maintaining stability in the currency
- Ensuring a well-organized and secure production and distribution of banknotes and coins of high quality
- Smooth functioning financial market
- Acting as a banker to the central Government
- Preparing the Financial statistics
The Board of Governor consists of three members, who are entirely responsible for the monetary policy of the country.
