Bank of Uganda is the central bank of the East African nation of Uganda. The bank was established on 15th August 1966, under the Bank of Uganda Act 1966. The bank is fully owned by the state.

The vision of the bank is to see that the institution upholds international best practice in fostering price stability and a sound financial system that enables macro-economic stability, economic growth and removal of poverty. The bank is also in charge of formulating the monetary policy. The Monetary and Credit Policy Committee makes decisions on monetary policy issues. Also, the Bank of Uganda is responsible for the supervision of the activities of the banking sector in the country, through the Commercial Banking Department.

In the pursuance of its objective the bank undertakes following activities:
- Carrying out open market operations in the country
- To protect the value of the currency and determine the exchange rate
- Estimate the reserve and liquidity requirement in order to ensure the smooth functioning of the economy
- To hold and manage the gold and foreign exchange reserves of the country
- To regulate the volume and circulation of the Turkish Lira
- To monitor the activities of the financial markets in the country
- To ensure the overall stability of the Ugandan financial system
