Deutsche Bank was established in 1870 in Berlin, Germany. The bank’s first domestic branches were inaugurated in 1871 in Bremen and in 1872 in Hamburg. Its first overseas branches were opened in Shanghai in 1872 and in London in 1873. Deutsche Bank’s first projects were the Northern Pacific Railroad in the US and the Baghdad Railway in 1888.
In 2001, Deutsche Bank was listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). In 2002, the bank purchased Scudder Investments and strengthened its North American position. Meanwhile, the bank also strengthened its private banking business in the European markets by acquiring Rued Blass & Cie (2002) and the Russian investment bank United Financial Group (2006).
Deutsche Bank: Products and Services
Corporate and Investment Bank: Deutsche Bank’s corporate and investment banking division handles a multitude of capital markets services, such as:

This division is further divided into:
· Corporate Banking and Securities: This group handles Deutsche Bank’s Global Markets and Corporate Finance businesses. The group’s scope is to cover M&A activities, advisory, and sales and trading of securities.
· Global Transaction Banking: This group covers Deutsche Bank’s trade finance, cash management, and trust and securities services businesses.
Private Clients and Asset Management: The Private Clients and Asset Management (PCAM) group consists of Deutsche Bank’s investment management verticals for both private and institutional clients. PCAM is divided into two groups:
· Asset and Wealth Management: Deutsche Bank’s Asset Management group comprises of four business groups:
o Retail Mutual Funds Business
o Alternative Investments
o Institutional Asset Management
o Insurance Asset Management
Private Wealth Management (PWM): The PWM services cater to high net worth individuals worldwide through a gamut of services, such as portfolio management, tax advisory and investment planning.
· Private and Business Clients: The Private and Business Clients (PBC) corporate division conducts business with private customers as well as small and medium-sized business clients in eight countries in Europe and Asia. The group’s range of services includes loans, mutual funds, securities and investment management. The PBC has more than 1800 outlets in Germany, Italy, Spain, Poland, India and China.[br]
Legal, Risk, and Capital: Deutsche Bank’s Legal, Risk and Capital (LRC) group manages risks involving volatility of prices, credit losses, infrastructure outages and liquidity shortages. The LRC comprises of:
