The total estimated population of the state as of July 2004 was 4,145,922 in comparison to 4,117,827 in July 2003. The net change in the population of the state in 2002-03 was 0.7%. The density of the population of the state is calculated at 103.7 per sq mi.
With regards to the Racial distribution of the state in (2000): 90.1% white, 7.3% Black, 0.7% Asian, 0.2% Native American.
Business and Economy of Kentucky
The Gross state product of the state for 2003 was US$129 billion with a per-capita personal income of US $26,575 for the same year.
Among the various sectors of the economy, industries contribute the highest income to the state. The Chief industries of the state are manufacturing, services, finance, insurance and real estate, retail trade and public utilities.
Important Manufacturing goods of the state are transportation and industrial machinery, apparel, printing and publishing, food products, electric and electronic equipment.
Major crops of the state are tobacco, corn and Soybean.
The Livestock of the state (Jan 2004): 2.32 mil. Cattle/calves; (Jan 2003): 380,000 hogs/pigs; (Dec 2003): 7.2 mil Chickens (excluding the broilers); and 275.9 mil. broilers.
