Arkansas is a state in the south central of the United States. The state is bordered by Tennessee and Mississippi, across the Mississippi R. (E), Louisiana (S), Texas and Oklahoma (W), and Missouri (N).
In the past Arkansas’ economy was largely one of agriculture-based economy with cotton as the main cash crop. In the today’s world Arkansas’ manufacturing income exceeds its agricultural income but the state’s basic wealth is still in its farms, forests, and mines.

The total population of the state in the July 2004 was calculated at 2,752,629 in comparison to 2,725,714 in July 2003. The net change of the population in 2002-2003 was 0.7%. The population density of the state is calculated at 52.3 per sq mi.The racial distribution of the state in the year 2000 was 80.0% white; 15.7% black.

The chief manufacturing goods of the state includes food products, chemicals, lumber, paper, plastics, electric motors, furniture, auto components, air plane parts, apparel, machinery and steel.
The chief crops of the state are rice, soybeans, cotton, tomatoes, grapes, apples, commercial vegetables, peaches and wheat. The major livestock according to Jan. 2004:1.9 mil.cattle/calves; Jan 2003: 310,000 hogs/pigs.
The volume of the State Exports in the year 2002 has reached $ 2,804 million.
