STRUCTURE OF THE ECONOMY

Agriculture accounts for a comparatively larger share in the country’s GDP. As to the statistics, services accounted for 53.9 percent of GDP in 2005 followed by agriculture at 33.0 percent.

Major agricultural products of the country are rice, maize, sorghum, cattle, sheep and goats. Important industries in the country are clothing, agricultural machines, and metalworking.
