From a humble start of one departmental store to spanning across the entire USA, Target has undergone a sea of changes. With Target credit cards (REDcard), they have taken their portfolio of services to a different level all together.[br]
Target credit cards, better known as Target Red Cards, consist of the Target Visa Credit Cards and the Target Card, which was formerly known as the Target Guest Card. Target credit cards (REdcards) are issued through Target National Bank, formerly known as Retailer National Bank.
Target Financial Services is the department that supervises the credit processes. It also overlooks the gift-card balances.
Target Check Card and Target Credit Card (Redcard)
October 2007, Target launched its pin based debit card, called the Target Check Card. This card withdraws funds from customer checking accounts and allows cash-back of up to $40. With this card, customers can accumulate Target reward points that can be used for discounts or to accumulate pharmacy points that can be redeemed at any Target store.
The main difference between the Target Check Card and the other REDcards is that there is no initial 10% discount for opening an account, besides the absence of the credit facility.
How to Apply For Target Credit Card (Redcard)
Applying for target credit cards is similar to applying for other credit cards. However, one needs to understand the difference between the Target Visa credit card and the Target credit card.
Target Visa is a universal card that can be used at any store, whereas the Target credit card can be used only at Target stores.[br]
The application procedure:
- You can apply online or by mailing your application to Target.
- An application is first considered for Target Visa. Depending on the credit score, the application is approved or passed on for the Target credit card. These cards get issued for people with a credit score of 400 or more.
- If your credit score is low, then apply for the Target Check Card.
The whole procedure takes around two to four weeks and applicants are informed through mail. In case they are approved, applicants receive a Target Credit Card (REDcard) and will need to call in for activation.
