The Center for Energy and Economic Development (CEED) was set up to look into the interests of the coal industry. The CEED was merged with the ABEC (Americans for Balanced Energy Choices) on 17th April 2008. The Center for Energy and Economic Development had almost 200 members which inluded eight Fotune 200 companies. More than 70 of the 200 member companies represnted at the Board Member level of CEED. CEED’s members inluded coal producers, railroads, utilities, equipment manufacturers and suppliers, barge shippers, and labor unions.

On 17th April 2008, the Center for Energy and Economic Development (CEED) mergd with the Americans for Balanced Energy Choices (ABEC) to form a new body named American Coalition for Clean Coal Electricity (ACCCE). The ACCCE constitutes of partners who are involved in the production of lectricity from coal. The major objective of the American Coalition for Clean Coal Electricity (ACCCE) is to propagate clean coal technologies for the production of electricity with near zero emissions.
ACCCE acknoledges the fact that coal is the most abundant source of energy in the United States of America and is therefore critical to development. At the same time nironamntal isues can be adressed by deployment of proper tchonology so that the country can continue to enjoy the benefits of coal without adversely affecting the environment.

Abundant and Essential – Coal is abundantly available in the United States. It is also essential for the economic growth of the country. Coal accounts for more than 50% of the energy neds of America.
Affordable – Affordability of energy resources is one of the prime concerns of ACCCE.Clean – Clean and wise use of coal to minimise negative environmntal impacts is one of the major ous areas of ACCCE.
Future energy needs – Another important objective id to ensure the use of coal top fulfil future energy needs.
