The Texas Department of Agriculture functions mainly in order to maximize the yields of the agricultural practices followed in Texas. In addition, the Texas Department of Agriculture is also interested in ensuring that the Texan children receive the best nutrition. At the same time, the Texas Department of Agriculture functions in developing the economy of rural Texas.
[br]The Texas Department of Agriculture has several, in fact, five regional offices which are spread across the state to provide enhanced and efficient services to the people of Texas in agriculture related problems. The Regional offices of the Texas Department of Agriculture are located in the following cities :
- Region One in Lubbock, the West Texas Department of Agriculture Regional Office.
- Dallas is the center of Region Two – North Texas Department of Agriculture Regional Office.
- Gulf Coast Texas Department of Agriculture Regional Office in Houston is at the center of Region Three.
- San Antonio, center of Region Four is the site of the South Central Texas Department of Agriculture Regional Office.
- Region Two or the Valley Regional Office of the Texas Department of Agriculture is located in San Juan.
The Lone Star State, or Texas has long been associated with Agriculture. Actually the Texas Department of Agriculture was founded in 1907 as an agency of the state to ensure that the state, that is, Texas and its people enjoy the maximum benefits from the agricultural processes that the people of the state involve in.
The Centenary Celebrations of the Texas Department of Agriculture are on this year, and the Texans are celebrating One Hundred Years of the establishment of the Texas Department of Agriculture in a very grand manner.
The Texas Department of Agriculture has worked efficiently and this has resulted in the fact that Texas is amongst those U.S. states which return a very huge share of the national agricultural products. Cotton, corn, feed grains, wheat and rice are the major crops which are cultivated in Texas, in addition to a large variety of fruits and vegetables. Ranches and Livestock are another major agricultural source which adds to the earning of the Texans.
