Free Credit Card Pakistan: Credit Card Fraud

Like most countries, the Pakistani economy has not been spared credit card frauds. A case in point being when in October 2008[1], the US Intelligence and the European Law Enforcement agencies uncovered a fraud racket that was closely linked to accounts in Pakistan. The racket allegedly used advanced wireless and server technologies to snoop sensitive card details from various UK based supermarkets.

So, if you want to prevent a fraud, the first step in doing so is to recognize the initial warning signals like:

·        Irregularities in receiving your bank and credit card statements

·        The statement received includes charges for items you have not ordered or purchased

·        An internet transaction was carried out without your knowledge or consent

·        You provide your PIN details over the telephone without a proper identification check

Free Credit Card Pakistan: Internet Fraud[br]

Although online transactions are considered safer, frauds still occur. With advancements in SSL and encryption methods, phishing has been under control. But, to be on the safer side and to ensure a smooth transaction, follow these steps to decrease the likelihood of becoming a prey to internet scams:

·        Deal with companies that are recognized and make sure that the contact details are legitimate so that you can get in touch with them, should any hiccup occur

·        Shop at sites that are integrated with security features, especially at the checkout page

·        Read the privacy policy of the site. In most cases, the only bit of information a merchant requires are your name on the card, the card number, the expiry date of the card and the CVV number

·        Always avoid a public computer while shopping online. If you do use a public computer, remember to log off, close the browser, clear your browsing history and delete the temp files to remove any trace of your transaction

Install a good firewall and anti virus software, and update them as often as possible to plug security holes in your system, if any
