Online and mobile banking issues caused problems for customers of major UK banks on Friday. Many said they could not check their accounts or send money. The problem happened on a busy banking day, bringing stress and delays for thousands. Customers who needed to pay bills or get their pay faced difficulties.

Lloyds Bank, Halifax, TSB, Nationwide, First Direct, and Bank of Scotland all had technical issues. The issue began early in the morning, affecting online and mobile banking. Customers could not transfer money, check balances, or pay important bills. Banks said they knew about the problem and were working to fix it as fast as possible.

Workers Share Dissatisfaction With Bank’s Payment Services

Reports show that many workers expect to get paid on the last Friday of the month. On this day, many customers receive their pay, pay rent, and handle important costs. With banks down, some are worried about late payments. Others were upset because they could not use their money when they needed it.

A spokesperson for Lloyds Banking Group said the company knew some customers had trouble. The company apologized and said it would fix the issue. Customers hope the problem would be fixed soon because delays could cause money worries. Some said they want better updates from banks during such troubles.

Reports from Downdetector showed nearly 4,000 Lloyds customers reported issues by mid-morning. Halifax, which uses the same system, received similar number of complaints. TSB and Nationwide both said they faced trouble and warned customers about delays in sending and receiving payments. Banks said they knew about the disruptions and were working to fix services.

According to the update, this is not the first time customers has faced this trouble. A similar issue happened in January, also on payday, affecting payments for many. Some said banks should work on their systems to stop these troubles. Others worry that as banking uses more online services, outages could keep happening.

Customers Worry As They Are Unable To Make Payments

Many shared their frustration on social media. One Lloyds customer said he could not access his account and had rent due that day. Others worried about late fees or bounced payments because of the delays. Banks noted that they understood customers’ concerns and were working to get everything running smoothly again.

Nationwide said most of its services were back by midday, though some payments were still delayed. First Direct, which is owned by HSBC, reported that it had fixed its payment problems. Even though some services were back, many customers remained unhappy.

The Financial Conduct Authority has told banks before to fix IT troubles. The regulator has not shared any comments on this issue yet, but it may ask banks to explain. Customers will look to see if banks improve their systems.
