UDST Introduces Qatar’s Inaugural Aeronautical Engineering Program

The University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) has announced the launch of seven new academic programs for the Fall 2025 semester, including Qatar’s first Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Engineering (BSc AeroE). These programs, ranging from bachelor’s to master’s degrees, emphasize practical, hands-on learning and have been developed in collaboration with key national and international partners, particularly within the aviation industry. Admissions for these programs are set to open in January 2025 for the 2025-2026 academic year.
Within the College of Engineering and Technology, UDST is introducing the Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Engineering and a Master of Science in Telecommunication and Network Engineering (MSc TNE). The BSc AeroE program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of aeronautical engineering principles, preparing them for careers in the rapidly evolving aviation sector.
Advancing Business and Aviation Management
The College of Business will offer a Bachelor of Science in Aviation Management (BSc AM), aiming to equip students with a robust foundation in business management alongside specialized aviation industry knowledge. This program prepares graduates for leadership roles within the dynamic aviation sector, addressing the growing demand for skilled professionals in this field.
In the College of Computing and Information Technology, a Master of Science in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (MSc DSAI) has been introduced. This program focuses on advanced computational techniques and their applications, preparing students to tackle complex challenges in data analysis and AI across various industries.
The College of General Education is launching several programs aimed at strengthening STEM education:
- Bachelor of Science in Teaching STEM: This program combines interdisciplinary teaching strategies with practical learning experiences, preparing graduates to create engaging educational environments that foster critical thinking and problem-solving skills among students.
- Master of Science in Teaching STEM: A bilingual (English and Arabic), two-year graduate program that integrates cutting-edge research with effective teaching methodologies. It empowers educators to develop transformative learning experiences, equipping students to thrive in a technology-driven world.
- Master of Science in STEM Education and TVET: This comprehensive two-year program is designed for qualified teachers seeking to advance their expertise in both STEM education and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), promoting excellence in teaching and curriculum development.
UDST President Dr. Salem al-Naemi emphasized that these new programs result from extensive consultations with industry experts, academic leaders, and strategic partners. He stated, “Our goal is to equip students with not only the skills needed for today’s workforce but also the foresight to thrive in tomorrow’s ever-evolving job market.” Dr. al-Naemi highlighted the increasing recognition of applied education’s value, noting that UDST’s hands-on learning approach and professional partnerships ensure graduates are well-prepared to make meaningful impacts in their chosen fields.
These program offerings align with UDST’s mission to provide innovative, high-quality education that meets the evolving needs of Qatar’s rapidly developing economy.
