The strategic alliance will enable Trinidad and Tobago to create a reliable and efficient real-time payment system for both person-to-person (P2P) and person-to-merchant (P2M) transactions.
NIPL emphasized that the new system aims to enhance the use of digital payments while promoting financial inclusion across the region. By leveraging India’s UPI technology, the collaboration seeks to modernize Trinidad and Tobago’s financial landscape.
This modernization aims to improve accessibility, affordability, connectivity with domestic and international payment networks, and ensure interoperability.

The officials said this system will help the fintech industry grow and make the current payment system stronger. It will offer different digital payment options that work well together.
The new platform will also help people in Trinidad and Tobago who do not have bank accounts. The leaders want to change how payments are made and create a new, modern payment system. They believe this will make it easier for everyone, especially those who don’t have access to banks.
