Thoughtworks, a global technology consultancy firm, recently started collaborating with AI Singapore. The partners joined up to develop a new generative AI and push its adoption.

Thoughtworks and AI Singapore Team Up

The two entities recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), which is actually their second one. It focuses specifically on speeding up the deployment of AI applications through training initiatives, infrastructure exchange, and further research of artificial intelligence and its use cases.

The collaboration will also work on developing new capabilities of large language models (LLMs), and at the same time, increase the production of AI products and services.

Commenting on the move, Thoughtworks’ Head of AI Research, Shayan Mohanty, stated that the collaboration will allow the companies to leverage each other’s strengths. Thoughtworks will be able to tap into Singapore’s deep national capabilities in the AI department. Meanwhile, AI Singapore will be able to make use of Thoughtworks’ 30+ years of experience at the forefront of innovation.

That will let it integrate the best of strategy, software engineering, and design, which will allow it to drive AI for the greater public good. The benefits might be helpful noth for Singapore, and the wider region.

Singapore Launches Smart Nation 2.0, Upgrading The 10-Year-Old Initiative

Singapore is one of the biggest innovation hubs in Asia, with advanced and friendly laws that manage to find a good balance between innovation and security, protecting the consumers while not hindering development.

Earlier this week, Singapore’s Prime Minister Lawrence Wong announced the Smart Nation 2.0 plan. This comes as an update to the original initiative that went live ten years ago, in 2014. Its focus will shift to AI education in schools, and it will bring a massive S$120 million grant for the National Research Foundatin’s ‘AI for Science’ initiative.

Commenting on the new developments, AI Singapore’s Senior Director of AI Products, Dr. Leslie Teo, stated: “At AI Singapore, we are dedicated to anchoring deep national capabilities, creating social and economic impact, nurturing local talent, and fostering a vibrant AI ecosystem. This commitment opens up valuable opportunities for companies to collaborate in shaping the future of AI innovation.”

Dr Teo added that the partnership with Thoughtworks is a major step in enhancing AI the joint research and training initiatives. Thoughtworks is a pioneer in AI-enabled software and data engineering, and its experience will be invaluable for AI Singapore’s goals.

Together, the two are expected to have much greater success in promoting collaborative knowledge and infrastructure exchange. Also, they intend to equip tech innovators with all the necessary skills, tools, and best practices to help transform AI pilots into successful solutions that will help drive growth and deliver business value.
