Stripe has announced the promotion of Rahul Patil as the firm’s new Chief Technology Officer. He has replaced David Singleton in that position. David, who congratulated Rahul in a LinkedIn post, has been with Stripe for over four years.
Following his promotion, Rahul will be in charge of Stripe’s global operations, which include tax platform, regulation, financial data warehouse, billing, and ledger. He is coming to the firm with a lot of experience from several global brands, having worked for companies like Microsoft, Amazon, and Oracle.
Rahul Worked In Google For 11 Years
Rahul also worked for Google, where he served for over 11 years, starting from a lower rank until his last position as a Vice President of Engineering. Rahul has been in the company, at the San Francisco branch of the firm, for six years before his recent promotion.
While announcing his departure from Stripe, Singleton stated that he has decided to step down from the company as he plans to start his own company soon. He added that in his first encounter with the Chief Executive Officers of Stripe, Claire Hughes and Patrick Collison, his intention was not to join the company.
He stated that he wanted to receive advice from them about launching his own company. The meeting with them went well as they gave him great advice and encouragement for the new company he intends to start.
However, Singleton stated that after his encounter with them, he got more excited about becoming part of the Stripe team. However, after staying on board for 6 years, he has decided to continue with his start-up dream and set up something of his own.
Stripe Expands Operations Through Collaborations
Stripe has been collaborating with leading firms in the industry to expand its operations. The company recently collaborated with Australian-based buy now, pay later firm, Zip.
The partnership will utilize Stripe’s platform to provide online trading payment options for users. The collaboration also allows purchases on Zip to be divided into four smaller installments over six weeks. The service will enable customers to buy goods even when they don’t have enough funds to complete the payment.
Additionally, Stripe has collaborated with UK-based software company, Sage. The partnership will improve payment processing and cash flow management among small and medium-scale businesses. Sage will utilize Stripe’s financial infrastructure to enhance customers’ financial processes. The payment processing software features tap-to-pay and easy checkout processes.
