Robinhood recently agreed to pay $45 million to settle different SEC charges against its brokerage business. According to the SEC’s order, the problems at Robinhood Securities and Robinhood Financial were linked to failures to quickly check suspicious trades and to set up proper rules to keep customers safe from identity theft.
One more charge covers a long-term failure to fix known dangers from a cybersecurity weakness that let millions of remote access customer accounts be downloaded illegally. According to the regulator, Robinhood failed to keep and save electronic messages as needed under federal securities laws.
