Connext, a decentralized exchange and payment network, declared on Twitter on February 11 that they have developed a new way to enable TurkeyReliefDAO to receive donations across many chains. This change took place in reaction to the disastrous earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria. The Connext team gave sympathies in their statement to those impacted by the accident.
We are deeply saddened by the earthquake that devastated Turkey & Syria & our hearts go out to all those affected.
Over the past 48h, we developed & audited a system to allow @TurkeyReliefDAO to noncustodially accept donations across multiple chains.https://t.co/XQljHT0xm6

Thereby, the Connext and Optimism Protocol’s combined effort is evidence of how blockchain may be used for good. The groups have set up a framework that enables noncustodial contributions, which enables anyone to help with relief operations without depending on centralized middlemen. This makes it easier to maintain accountability and openness and speeds up the delivery of assistance to individuals in need.
Optimism Launches Optimism Agora
Optimism Agora, a brand-new on-chain governance platform, was introduced on February 11 according to an announcement by Optimism Protocol. The site, created by Agora, improves the administration of DAOs and blockchains by bringing Token House voting fully on-chain. However, the introduction of Optimism Agora marks the beginning of the move to entirely on-chain voting.

Optimism had a governance site from which they were transitioning to a unique on-chain voting system. There will be a vote on each governance proposal. The Optimism Collective makes choices based on governance proposals that are either approved or disapproved by the voting process. The switch to entirely on-chain voting will be implemented in accordance with the Operating manual’s guidelines, which explained the voting procedure and specified the appropriate proposal kinds.

Huobi contributed 2 million TRY, Bitfinex, and Tether 5 million TRY, while Bitget promised a 1 million TRY donation. Additionally, Binance promised to give customers in the impacted area an airdrop of $100 (1883 TRY) in BNB.
Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin yesterday also donated to the cryptocurrency community’s effort to help the victims of the devastating earthquake. Buterin gave the Ahbap Earthquake Support in Turkey and Syria 99 ETH, or $150,000, via EtherScan. The receiver wallet, which has about 393 ETH, is worth close to $600,000 at the moment. The contents of the wallet are worth more than $1.55 million in total.
It is encouraging to see the blockchain community uniting to help those affected as the globe deals with natural catastrophes and humanitarian crises.
