Thought Machine To Distribute Its Tech Globally Through Mastercard’s Network

The technology used by financial institutions around the world is often criticized as outdated, too expensive for regular payments, and too slow when it comes to international transfers. This is why companies like Mastercard are constantly working on inventing new solutions to improve traditional systems.

Mastercard’s partnership with Thought Machine, a cloud-based fintech, is the next step that the firm is taking toward achieving this goal. The collaboration is expected to transform the banking sector through the integration of Mastercard’s vast global network with Thought Machine’s cloud-based banking technology.

The partners said that their collaboration will allow banks to transition from outdated core banking systems to cloud-native platforms, which are more advanced in every way. The shift will offer a cheaper, more efficient, and seamless banking experience to the banks’ clients.

The partnership will also deliver the tools needed by the banks to offer personalized and integrated customer services. That includes improving the account opening processes, as well as introducing pay-now solutions.

Furthermore, the solution will digitize debit cards, usually linked to current accounts. Thought Machine’s founder and acting CEO, Paul Taylor, said that expanding the firm’s partnership with Mastercard will leverage its global presence and payment expertise. As a result, Thought Machine’s core banking and payment platforms will become available to banks worldwide.

“We are excited to simplify and enhance the modernization experience for complex banks worldwide and make it even easier for them to deliver sophisticated customer experiences,” he added.

Mastercard Wants To Make Online Payments Faster And Simpler

On the other hand, Mastercard’s goal is to eliminate the need for users to enter their card numbers manually whenever they make online transactions in Europe. Regardless of the platform or device they use, making online payments should be significantly simpler once the new systems are in place, which Mastercard expects to happen by 2030.

The idea is to enhance convenience for the users, but also security, by shifting to tokenization and biometric authentication.

The payment giant intends to phase out manual card number entry and replace it with rando,ly generated tokens, improving how users pay for online services. So far, users had to enter the 16-digit card number. This meant that they must always have their card at hand when making online purchases, which makes buying things online tedious and unattractive. Mastercard seeks to change this and make the experience quicker and more seamless.
