Manchester Digital Seeks To Empower Northern Tech Innovation And Growth

The Manifesto for the Northern Tech Economy, which has support from tech leaders in the region, calls for making a new Northern Tech Team of important cities. This initiative is overseen by Greater Manchester and it could work together with leaders from business, schools, and politics to establish a  tech hub across the region.

The Manifesto also asks for the set up of a yearly international Northern Tech Meeting. It also proposes creation of a Local Digital Money Fund, which would make global money support for new and growing businesses go super fast.

The companies also ask for special help for work experiences like the suggested Mbacc initiative to bring lots of new engineering skills into the northern tech economy.

The chairman of Manchester Digital’s board Alison Ross emphasized the importance of investing rightly. Ross stated that with the right collaboration, organization, and investment, cities in the north could become the biggest tech hub in Britain. She urges the Mayor of Big Manchester to start creating a Northern Tech Group, aiming at creating a new global tech network that’s as important as the South East and London.

Manchester Digital Wants To Establish A Collaborative Tech Ecosystem In The North

The managing director at Manchester Digital, Katie Gallagher, stated that the team saw an opportunity to build a really strong tech area in the north, with Big Manchester at the center.

He emphasized the team’s eagerness to partner with the Mayor to make a combined northern approach for innovation and tech growth. Their Plan is all about achieving that goal, boosting skills and innovation in the process.

The Manifesto shows that there are lots of tech students in Liverpool, Leeds, Manchester, and Sheffield universities, which is more than 250, 000 pupils. This population is more than that in Oxbridge, which is only about 60,000 altogether.

A report from Barclays Eagle Labs indicates that there are 708 fast-growing tech firms in Sheffield, Leeds, and Manchester. Together, these cities got more than £1.1 billion in investment over the last five years. Greater Manchester currently has a strong tech business, including Fintech, ecommerce, and health tech.
