Too many patents have been approved, that it is stifling innovation – claim experts. According to some, the current patent system has become vulnerable to abuse, devolving into something the opposite of its original intent: a tool for tech-industry shakedowns and costly litigation. 


Too many patents have been approved, that it is stifling innovation – claim experts. According to some, the current patent system has become vulnerable to abuse, devolving into something the opposite of its original intent: a tool for tech-industry shakedowns and costly litigation. 

Most of us are familiar with patent wars and the techonology industry’s infighting. Oracle is suing Google over the Andriod, Microsoft is also suing Motorola over Andriod-related issues. Apple and Samsung are engaged in a patent war, while Apple is also accusing HTC of infringing on its iPhone patents. HTC, in turn, is also countersuing for copyright infringements.

And the list goes on.
