Deutsche Borse Trading Volumes Drop to €1.2 Trillion In 2023

Deutsche Börse recently released its cash market figures for 2023. The numbers show that the total trading volumes reached €1.2 trillion during the year on its Xetra and Frankfurt Stock Exchange platform. The figure shows a 21% drop compared to the €1.6 trillion posted in 2022.
Deutsche Borse Trading Volumes Drop to €1.2 Trillion In 2023
Deutsche Börse provides trading for a wide range of financial instruments such as shares, bonds, exchange-traded funds (ETFs), funds, and others. It also supports more than 1.6 million domestic and international securities.
In December 2023, the total trading volumes hit €97.4 billion, a decline from the €104.5 billion posted during the previous month. However, the recent volumes were a gain from the €92.01 billion recorded in December 2022.
While commenting on these financial results, Deutsche Börse said that “of this amount, €94.1 billion was attributable to Xetra and €3.3 billion to Börse Frankfurt. The average daily turnover on Xetra for December reached €5 billion, a gain from the €4.3 billion posted during the same time last year and a decline from the $4.6 billion recorded during the previous month.
SAP SE was the most traded stock on Xetra in 2023, with a turnover of €53.9 billion. The turnover at Allianz SE and Siemens AG came to €50.2 billion and €49.7 billion respectively during the year.
Lufthansa AG, which is part of the MDAX index saw trading activity hit €1.5 billion. Formycon AG had the highest volume stock on the scale agreement at €200 million.
The iShares Core MSCI World Fund was the largest ETF on Xetra with €6.1 billion. The average daily turnover on Xetra also reached €5 billion in December, a gain from the €4.3 billion posted in December last year.
Net Profits at Deutsche Börse Gain 24%
In 2023, Deutsche Börse posted a 24% increase in annual profits and revenues. The net revenue increased to €4,388 million, a gain from €3,509 million reported in 2021. The EBITDA also increased from €2,043 to €2,525 million.
The final net income also increased to €1,563 million, a gain from the €1,264 million posted during the previous year. The figure showed an even annual growth rate of 24%.
Deutsche Borse also posted positive revenues for the third quarter, which increased 9% year-over-year to €1,188.3 million. During the quarter, the exchange group also closed the acquisition of SimCorp to expand its investment business.
