Deutsche Borse Xetra, Borse Frankfurt, and Tradegate Exchange trading platforms reported a total order book turnover of €1.8 trillion during the first seven months of 2022 alone. This is a sharp difference from the €1.9 trillion reported from the three trading platforms in 2021.
Deutsche Borse reports a €1.8 trillion order book turnover
Deutsche Borse reported its order book turnover numbers as part of the cash market trading statistics for 2022 that were released on Monday. The figures show that the company no longer included the trading volumes of the Tradegate Exchange in August as the platform “no longer consolidated due to changes in the ownership structure.”
The details shared by Deutsche Borse also show that the stocks of the SAP SE software firm, Commerzbank AG universal bank, Nordex SE wind turbines creator, and 2G Energy AG power plants creator had the most active trading activity. These stocks were the most active across the DAX, MDAX, SDAX, and Scale All Share in 2022 German indices.
In the case of the DAX Index, which tracks the stock performance of the 40 largest German companies by market cap and liquidity, the SAP SE stock had the highest order book revenue of $59.9 billion. This amount was followed by stocks of Linde PLC, an industrial gas producer that reported an order book turnover of €57.8 billion, and Allianz SE, an insurance company that had an order book turnover of $57.8 billion.
Deutsche Borse explained the figures reported during the period saying that Commerzbank AG was at the top of the MDAX Index after reporting €13.9 billion. Nordex was at the top of the SDAX index with €3 billion, while 2G Energy was the most traded stock within the SME segment scale with volumes of €200 million.
Additionally, the iShares Core MSCI World UCITS ETF tracking the performance of an index made up of companies in developed countries, had the highest volumes on the Xetra trading platform. The ETF reported volumes of €11.6 billion in 2021 alone.
Deutsche Borse reports a dip in December 2022 turnover
Deutsche Borse also reported that the total order book turnover in December 2022 dropped by 20% to €92 billion. This significantly dropped from the €115.1 billion reported during the previous year. However, after deducting the volumes deported by Tradegate in December 2021, the volumes in December 2022 were a 29% decrease.
Deutsche Borse further noted that the €89.8 billion reported during the period was attributed mainly to Xetra, while €2.2 billion was attributed to Borse Frankfurt. In December, the average daily turnover for Xetra reached €4.3 billion. This was a dip from the €6 billion reported during the previous year and the €5.1 billion reported during the previous month.
