The China Pharmaceutical industry is not the biggest in the world even though China has the highest amount of population in the world. China has as much as 20 percent of the total population of the world but China Pharmaceutical Industry has captured only around 1.5 percent of the total Pharmaceutical Market. But the encouraging thing is that the China Pharmaceutical Industry has been increasing at a rate of around 10 percent.

The reason of this being the governmental policies as well as lack of visibility towards procedures of drug approval. Another reason being the different type of treatment policy which has kept China Pharmaceutical Industry in the back row of the World Pharmaceutical Industry. But the new administrators are looking to have a parity in the medical treatment which has changed and improved the situation for a decade or so.
China Pharmaceutical Industry has got more than 3,500 medicine companies in the recent years which was once more than 5000 in number. The experts of this market predicts that this number is going to go lower in the upcoming years . The market is without any dominant leader even though the market has crossed an amount of $10 billion and these small companies fight among to get the bigger market share. It is observed that China is the ninth biggest Pharmaceutical Industry in the world and the expert predicts that it would be the eighth country in the world by 2010.
The China pharmaceutical Market is mainly captured by its small domestic companies which capture as much as 70 percent of the total market where as three other big companies capture around the rest of the 30 percent.
In the last 10 months or so the China Pharmaceutical Industry has reached an amount of more than $4o billion which is the highest China has ever got. Among the China Pharmaceutical Companies more than 35 percent are owned by the Chinese Government, around 35 percent have been owned privately and the remaining 29 percent of it is aided by foreign fund and this is helping the Chinese Pharmaceutical industry in a big way.
