The team behind ABN Amro’s popular Tikkie payments app has launched a full-service neobank explicitly tailored for young people. This new bank, Buut, was designed entirely with the way young people experience the world in mind, according to ABN Amro.
Built from scratch in just a year by the same team that developed Tikkie—an app with millions of users—Buut aims to offer a fresh banking experience.
ABN Amro Aims To Revolutionize Banking For The Digital Generation With Buut
Annerie Vreugdenhil, ABN Amro’s Chief Commercial Officer for personal and business banking, described Buut as “easy to use, interactive, and fully visual.” She added that it is ideally suited to the new generation’s digital lifestyle.
Vreugdenhil said Buut is everything a bank should be but reimagined with the creative spirit that made Tikkie so successful. According to her, it is not just another digital banking app but represents a fundamental shift in how young people manage their money.
Vreugdenhil said that the world is evolving, and so is the bank. She added that young people expect more from their bank, and Buut is designed to meet those expectations.
The bank’s design focuses on simplicity, interactivity, and visual engagement—qualities that fill a gap where traditional banks often struggle to connect with younger users who have grown up in a digital-first world.
Buut carries forward Tikkie’s signature style, blending practical features with personality to make managing money more enjoyable. However, it expands this concept into complete banking services while keeping the fresh look, intuitive design, and friendly tone that users already appreciate.
ABN Amro Wants To Solve Youth Finance Challenges With Buut
A new bank was set up to help young people deal with money problems they often face. Many young people lose track of their spending because there are so many ways to pay these days.
What’s really surprising is how quickly Buut was built. It usually takes a long time to build a full bank because there are so many rules. But ABN Amro already had a strong system, and the team behind Tikkie added new ideas to make it really easy to use.
This shows that ABN Amro is trying to move fast with new ideas while still keeping things safe and trustworthy. They’ve done this before with other money apps like New10 and BUX, so it’s clearly part of their bigger plan.
Buut now joins other digital banks like Revolut, N26, and Bunq. But it’s different because the Tikkie team knows how to make things easy for users, has strong support from ABN Amro, and really understands the Dutch market.
