Europe’s second-largest neobank, bunq, announced recently that it has released a new, upgraded version of its GenAI assistant and AI support agent, Finn.

In a statement published December 16, bunq said that the launch of the new version of its user-oriented AI solution will solidify the bank’s position as the first and leading GenAI-powered bank in Europe.

Not only that, but it also marks a new milestone in the future of banking, which will be led by AI and powered by human expertise.

What Makes Finn The Most Advanced User-Oriented AI Assistant

Finn is a GenAI assistant and AI support agent built to assist bunq’s users. It was originally launched in December 2023, and at the time, it had a single mission – to make life easier for the bank’s customer base.

Since then, the assistant has proven its worth as a guide that is always available and capable of managing even the most complex questions that users had. In addition, it was able to help them make the most out of the bunq app.

Now, however, Finn has received an upgrade to its system, which will make it even smarter and allow it to provide more accurate answers. It will also be able to engage in human-like conversations, which is expected to earn it a 90% user satisfaction rating.

The AI assistant is now capable of answering millions of questions, from financial insights to support requests, and bunq even uses it to train its fraud-detection models and improve its deepfake detection frameworks, with some of the best results in the industry.

The announcement continued to say: “bunq pioneered a new, user-centered banking experience from day one, with its proprietary AI playing a major role, woven into every aspect of its operations and user safety and support.”

bunq also noted that Finn can resolve support queries in only 47 seconds, acting much faster than the industry average of one minute. That way, it can ensure that all user request that require deeper knowledge are routed to the right human specialist. As a result, Finn can handle 97% of all user support activity with real-time, AI-powered speech-to-speech translation, which is a first in the banking sector.

Commenting on the move, bunq’s Chief Evangelist, Joe Wilson, said that Finn’s anniversary markes a pivotal moment for the bank, as it represents one more step along the journey to make money management not only easier, but smarter and safer.

“While traditional banks may use AI to cut costs and replace humans, at bunq we focus on its ability to help our users. By leveraging AI, we’re showing the world what the future of banking looks like: one where your bank truly learns from you, works for you, speaks your language, and helps you get the most out of your finances, anytime, anywhere,” he added.
