Natasha Sayce-Zelem, formerly a technology head at Amazon, recently joined the UK high street bank, Lloyds. The bank was thrilled to hire the former Amazon executive as the new lead of the digitization of its revamped mortgage division.
Reports say that Sayce-Zelem joined Lloyds as director of digital and business platforms for the bank’s homes business. She will operate from Leeds, and report to report directly to Lloyds’ mortgage director, Andrew Asaam.
Her primary responsibilities will revolve around reimagining and digitizing the mortgage process across Lloyds’ various brands and channels. In other words, the bank intends to make the overall experience work better for its customers.
Commenting about her new position at Lloyds in a post on LinkedIn, Sayce-Zelem said that she is thrilled to join Lloyds Banking Group, especially since the Homes division helped 65,000 people buy their first home with over £15bn in lending in 2024 alone.
Sayce-Zalem’s Experience Makes Her Perfect For The New Role
As mentioned, Sayce-Zelem joined from Amazon, where she worked as the global head of partner engineering for the Prime Video branch of Amazon’s business. Before that, she spent five years working at a popular cable TV channel Sky.
At Sky, she was part of a team responsible for setting up the firm’s digital hub in Leeds. Other than that, she also worked for the BBC, where she managed the digital transformation of the channel’s online sports platforms. In other words, she has plenty of experience when it comes to reimagining different aspects of various businesses, making her a perfect candidate for what Lloyds needs her to do.
It is also worth noting that Sayce-Zelem founded the Empowering Women With Tech initiative, designed to make STEM subjects and courses more accessible to young women.
Now, she is looking forward to changing the Lloyds home buying experience for the users, stating that anyone who has been through the process of buying a home knows how unwieldy and complicated it can be. Because of that, she said she can’t wait to get started on making the experience simpler, straightforward, and even enjoyable for millions of mortgage customers.
