European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso and European Council President Herman Van Rompuy meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Yekaterinburg, Russia. Syria is expect to top the agenda after the European Union scrapped its arms embargo on the country last Monday, following the insistence of the U.K. and France that they be allowed to send future arms shipments to rebels there.
The U.S. court-martial begins its trail against Bradley Manning, accusing of passing state secrets to the WikiLeaks website in 2010. He faces a possible life sentence without parole if convicted of “aiding the enemy”.
Presidents of the four Visegrad countries – Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia hold a summit to mark its 22nd anniversary. All members of NATO, they agreed in Warsaw this March to form a joint military force of up to 3,000 troops by 2016.

Chinese President Xi Jinping holds his first meeting with President Barack Obama in California. According to analysts, Obama will be looking for signs from his Chinese counterpart that Beijing is ready to address its alledged high-tech state-sponsored spying, which the White House sees as a top threat to the U.S. economy and national security.
