A week after being named as the world’s most valuable company, new floor plan designs have emerged for Apple’s proposed new headquarters – Apple Campus 2 in Cupertino, California.

In June this year, Apple’s co-founder and CEO Steve Jobs appeared before the Cupertino City Council to pitch his plans for a futuristic new campus that would occupy a 175-acre plot of land in the heart of Silicon Valley.

In his pitch, Steve Jobs described the proposed new building’s design to be “a little like a spaceship landed.”

Thanks to the latest floor plans and renderings published on the Cupertino City Council website, we can now visualise how the proposed new building would look like.

According to the site proposal on the city council’s website, the 2.8 million-square-foot circular structure will be able to accommodate up to 13,000 employees and will include features including a 1000-seat auditorium, 300,000 square feet of research facilities, underground car parks, a corporate fitness centre, and its very own central power plant.

In addition, 80 percent of the property will be landscaped with 6000 trees under the direction of a Stanford University arborist.

The brand new complex will be lined with huge walls of glass that will allow workers to look out from both sides of the ring onto its park-like landscaping.

Mac Observer’s John Martellaro has estimated the size of the new complex to easily dwarf that of the Pentagon. Based on his calculations, the proposed building would have a diameter of 1615 ft with a radius of 807.5 ft.

While the Cupertino City Council will still need to assess the environmental impact of the new campus along with more reviews of the site’s development plans, Cupertino Mayor Gilbert Wong unofficially told a press conference that “there is no chance that we’re saying no.”

The proposed new building is expected to be completed by 2015. According to PC World, the company also plans to keep its current iconic headquarters at 1 Infinite Loop in operation as well.
